ESL UK appointed Promod Esports as product owners for the 2020 ESL Premiership. Tasked with running two seasons throughout the year, with a minimum of two game titles in each season, Promod Esports introduced a new game title for 2020 in Dota 2, joining Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in Spring and Autumn, and Rainbow Six Siege in Spring.

Originally scoped as a ‘live event’ with public and players present, the 2020 COVID-19 outbreak meant that a last minute change to the structure of the league, as well as production workflows and methods, had to be adapted with the need for staff and players to participate from home. Promod Esports devised a fully-remote broadcast strategy, allowing the season to continue as planned, using innovative software solutions to operate weekly shows at the height of the pandemic.
